[Logan's Recipe] How to Cook Bean Sprout?

Caution: Don't try if you have Pollen Food Syndrome (PFS)


What are Bean Sprouts?

Bean sprouts are a common ingredient across the world. They are particularly common in Eastern Asian cuisine, made from sprouting beans. The typical bean sprout is made from the greenish-capped mung beans. Other common bean sprouts are the usually yellow, larger-grained soy sprouts. It typically takes one week for them to be completely grown. The sprouted beans are more nutritious than the original beans and they require much less cooking time and, therefore, less energy.

I think a lot of people see bean sprouts at least once at a food court in shopping malls.

Some people who already try this like it or you will like it even though you never try it before.

It's really easy to buy and really easy to cook.

I'll introduce how to cook bean sprouts very easily.

This way is also healthier than other ways because you will not fry them.

What do I need to prepare?

          1. Fresh Bean Sprouts

          2. Sesame Oil (I recommend olive oil because some people don't like the smell of sesame oil)

          3. Salt

          4. Crushed/Shredded Garlic (you don't necessarily need to put)

          5. Sesame (you don't necessarily need to put)


How to Cook Bean Sprouts?


          1. Blanch bean sprouts in boiling water.

  • Tip: When you blanch bean sprouts, you should not cover it. If you keep opening and closing it, it will cause a bad smell.
          2. Put bean sprouts in the bowl.


          3. Add crushed/shredded garlic half of a spoon. (for the example of the picture above)

  • You don't necessarily need to put if you don't like it or don't have it. 

          4. Add salt little by little. (try it and find the best taste for you)

  • Tip: If it's too salty, add a water litter bit.
          5. Put the sesame oil (or olive oil) 1/3 of a spoon or less.

  • Most of Koreans use sesame oil. However, some people including me don't like the smell of sesame oil, personally, I recommend to use olive oil instead of sesame oil.
          6. Add sesame for the better taste. (you don't necessarily need to put)
          7. Mix it!!!

Until here, this is basic seasoned bean sprouts.

          8. To make its appearance better, add a little bit of shredded green onion or shredded carrot.
